Sri Lanka Floods
Tropical Cyclone Ditwah struck on November 28, 2025, intensifying seasonal monsoon rains and unleashing severe flooding and landslides that devastated the island. This catastrophe has impacted over 2 million people and resulted in more than 600 deaths. The severe weather caused extensive damage, fully destroying over 4,000 houses and partially damaging over 65,000. To address the crisis, the Government has established safe locations nationwide to shelter the displaced population temporarily.
Hidaya Foundation is collaborating with partners on the ground to deliver crucial relief. Our team is conducting detailed needs assessments to properly plan long-term recovery efforts. As residents move back to their homes, the urgent needs include assistance with home rebuilding, dry ration provisions, clean drinking water access, and essential school supplies for children.
