Turkey Earthquake 2023
On February 6, 2023, a magnitude 7.8 Earthquake shook southern Turkiye (Turkey) and was followed by many aftershocks, one being a 7.5 major earthquake itself just 9 hours later. Many buildings have fallen throughout several cities killing thousands, and thousands more are injured. Fears that death toll is expected to rise as rescuers are trying to reach scores of people still trapped under rubble. The cold winter conditions are making the situation worse as hundreds of thousands are now outside due to their homes being collapsed or structurally unsound and dangerous to enter.
Hidaya Foundation’s Relief Efforts:
For the past several years, Hidaya Foundation has been active in Southern Turkiye (Turkey) where the epicenter of these earthquakes are. It is a region that millions of Syrian refugees have settled. We will be working through our partners and volunteers in Gaziantep and surrounding cities to aid families in great need. Please donate.
