One Million Meals

2023 Update

Hidaya Foundation distributed food to over 120,000 families in 18 countries via the One Million Meals/Fidya/Sadaqat-ul-Fitr/Kaffara projects. Distribution was done in: Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Myanmar, Turkiye, Syria, Yemen, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Mali, Senegal, Sudan, Somalia, Uganda, Gambia, Zimbabwe.
Dry Ration Packages typically consist of wheat, rice or flour (25kg), lentils (5kg), cooking oil (3-5 liter), sugar (3-5kg), bathing soap for hygiene purposes, and at times fresh produce from the area of distribution. A package to feed a family for a month can cost anywhere from $30-$50, depending on the region and size of the family. Also, cooked meals are being distributed (as a sadaqah) in a few countries, typically $50 can feed 90-100 people. Please Donate towards One Million Meals project!

2022 Report

In 2022, Hidaya Foundation distributed over 80,000 dry ration packages to families in almost 30 countries, including: Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Burma, Turkey, Philippines, Yemen, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Cameroon, Benin, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Togo, Sudan, Ethiopia, Somalia, Somaliland, Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, Gambia, Zimbabwe. In flood affected Pakistan we distributed cooked biryani for months to affected families. In total, over 10 million meals were given in 2022.

2021 Report

Hidaya distributed dry ration packages to over 140,000 families in 25 countries, (Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Turkey, Philippines, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Cameroon, Benin, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Togo, Sudan, Somalia, Somaliland, Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, Gambia) enough for nearly 8 million meals.

2020 Report

In 2020, Hidaya distributed almost 40,000 dry ration packages to families in 13 countries, (Pakistan, Benin, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Togo, Benin, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Cameroon). 

Also food assistance was given to over 25,000 families in 13 countries as part of our Coronavirus Relief efforts (USA, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Turkey (for Syrian Refugees), Indonesia, Cameroon, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Somaliland, Ethiopia, Djibouti). 

Under these efforts, nearly 3 million meals were given to people in need.

2019 Report

In 2019, Hidaya distributed over 58,000 dry ration packages to families in 14 countries, (Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Somalia, Cameroon, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Benin, Ghana, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Togo) enough for over 2.5 million meals.

2018 Report

In 2018, Hidaya distributed over 54,000 dry ration packages to families in 7 countries, (Pakistan, Cameroon, Guinea, Ghana, Senegal, Togo) enough for over 2.5 million meals.

2017 Report

In 2017, Hidaya distributed dry ration packages to families in 7 different countries (Pakistan, Benin, Ghana, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Togo), enough for well over 1,000,000 meals.

2015 Report

In 2015, Hidaya has distributed over 105,000 dry ration packages to families throughout Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Cameroon, Sierra Leone & Guinea – enough for over 1.6 Million meals!

2013 Report

In 2013, Hidaya distributed over 11,590 dry ration packages to families, benefiting approximately 64,000 individuals.

2011 Report

• Hidaya has distributed 9,411 dry ration packages which were given to approximately 46,600 individuals in 2011.
• This ration was equivalent to approximately 1,335,414 meals.

2009 Report

• This Ramadan alone, Hidaya Foundation is distributing over 750,000 meals to extremely poor families in Pakistan, Bangladesh, Cameroon, Ghana, India, Sierra Leone, and Sri Lanka.
• Earlier during the year 2,750 Dry ration packages were distributed to 2,750 families or 13,750 individuals
• Total weight for these supplies was 55,000 kg or 55 metric tons.
• This ration was equivalent to approximately 37,820 meals.
• Packages were distributed at three locations in Pakistan.
• Total meals for the year until September equal 787,820.
