Case 1

Ali (age 50) was very skilled as carpenter but unfortunately eight years ago he had fever after some time he became infected with tetanus which stopped him from doing any work because of shivering in his hands. Ali has four sons and three daughters.  The oldest son is studying for his Bachelor's degree (majoring in Business) and two younger sons are studying in 4th and 6th class.  Hidaya is helping him to meet his family expenses. He has been receiving 500 Rupees on a monthly basis (approx. $8/month) as Zakat assistance since Jan. 2006.

 

Case 2

Shafi (age 51) worked as an assistant at a local government office in Pakistan.  He lived an average life but unfortunately due to diabetes he had to have both his legs amputated. He receives 1,600 Rupees monthly (approx. $25/month) from his pension.  He lives with his wife, two sons and one daughter.  Ali's eldest son is studying at a university is paying for his educational expenses by tutoring other students. This son has also applied at Hidaya for monthly assistance in education. Ali's younger son daughter are in primary school. Given his conditon, Ali is unable to work making it difficult to make ends meet and support his family.  Hidaya has been supporting Ali since July 2006 by providing 1,000 Rupees monthly (approx.  $16/month) as Zakat assistance.

Sitara-e-Isaar Awarded to Hidaya Foundation

Hidaya Foundation was awarded Sitara-i-Eisaar (Star of Sacrifice) by the Government of Pakistan, in recognition of the results-oriented relief efforts during the 2005 earthquake in Pakistan, during a special ceremony held at the Embassy of Pakistan in Washington, DC, on September 21, 2006.
