Will You Donate for Hundreds of Such Children? March 5, 2008 As Salaamu Alaikum (May Peace Be Upon You), Husna Begum (48) has been a widow for the past five years, and struggles to provide for her three orphaned children, Rabia (14), Amjad (12), and Salman (10). Working as a house maid earning a meager 500 Rs per month (approx. $8/month), her family is barely scraping by.
Husna and her children live in a home that consists of two deteriorating rooms. The roof is in such awful condition that she fears that it may fall over her children at any moment while they may be sleeping.
All three children are fortunate enough to be in school and attend classes regularly. They all dream of one day attending a university, but due to a life of poverty that would not likely come true.
Hidaya Foundation (www.hidaya.org), under its No Orphan without Education Project, is now supporting over 700 hundred orphan children and 300 widowed mothers including Husna and her children by paying for all of their educational expenses (such as tuition fees, examination fees, textbooks, school supplies, etc.) as well as giving a monthly stipend to help pay for basic necessities such as food and medicine. Additionally, Hidaya is providing in-kind support such as clothes, shoes, blankets and more to provide some comfort in their lives. With this new support, Husna’s children can continue to dream big, and inshallah these dreams can become a reality.
