March 20,2008 As Salaamu Alaikum (May Peace Be Upon You), To address the environmental issues in Pakistan, Hidaya Foundation (www.hidaya.org) has launched the “One Million Trees” project. Our goal is to plant and grow a minimum of one million trees in ten years in Pakistan. Through this effort, Hidaya Foundation intends to educate youth on the impact of trees on the environment, along with the information on how to grow, maintain, and benefit from the trees.
Hidaya team members have been going from school to school and village to village, talking with students and community members about the benefits of trees and teaching them how to successfully plant the trees. Recently, Hidaya has purchased over 77,000 seedlings (acacia, neem, eucalyptus, conocarpus and Moringa & more) which are being distributed to students and farmers for planting.
After we are well on our way to implement this project in Pakistan, Hidaya plans to expand this effort to other countries, where it has presence.
If you would like to learn more about the project or are willing to help us in expanding the project, kindly write or call us or simply donate towards this worthy cause. You can also find more information on this project at:
