Disaster Relief - Floods Hit Northwest Pakistan
Three
days of torrential rains during the final days of July 2010 have caused
rivers to overflow throughout Northwestern Pakistan causing severe
flooding and destroying dams, roads, schools, food supplies and homes in
hundreds of towns and villages. Hundreds of thousands of villagers have lost their homes and livelihood and the death toll of over 400 is rising. This is reportedly the deadliest such disaster to hit the region in over 80 years.
In
the past few days alone the province of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa in Pakistan
has received more than 312mm in rain - the highest figure recorded in
the last 35 years. On top of this, weather officials are forecasting continued heavy rains for the next 10 days.
Please donate to help the needy families affected by this disastrous flooding.
