Assist schools in economically depressed areas to maintain quality of education
To promote education in poor countries, Hidaya Foundation operates its own schools as well as financially supports other schools in rural and economically depressed areas. Examples of support to schools include: - Providing classroom furniture
- Constructing additional classroom facilities
- Donating computers for IT training
- Installing drinking water system
- Providing lights and fans for classrooms
- Sponsoring extracurricular activities such as sports, debates, tree plantations, etc.
- Paying for gas connection costs for home economics classes
- Repairing vehicles used to transport handicapped children to school
- Establishing libraries
Moreover, Hidaya offers financial or in-kind support to 5-10% of deserving students in each class in these poor schools.
Under a government initiative in Pakistan, Hidaya has recently launched a program to adopt and operate those government schools, which have been closed for a variety of reasons. Hidaya is currently operating 6 schools that had previously been shut down. Also, Hidaya has constructed 2 brand new schools. Going forward, additional schools will be re-opened at a rapid pace to offer an opportunity to the children in rural areas who have no other means of acquiring education. |
