Why Support an Orphan?
And they feed, for the love of Allah, the indigent, the orphan and the captive. [Al-Qur’an 76:8]
And they ask you about orphans. Say, “Improvement for them is best. And if you mix your affairs with theirs – they are your brothers. And Allah knows the corrupter from the amender. And if Allah had willed, He could have put you in difficulty. Indeed, Allah is Exalted in Might and Wise.” [Al-Qur’an 2:220]
Therefore treat not the Orphan with harshness. [Al-Qur’an 93:9]
Worship Allah and associate nothing with Him, and to parents do good, and to relatives, orphans, the needy, the near neighbor, the neighbor farther away, the companion at your side, the traveler, and those whom your right hands possess. Indeed, Allah does not like those who are self-deluding and boastful. [Al-Qur’an 4:36]
Narrated Sahl bin Sa’d: The Prophet said, “I and the person who looks after an orphan and provides for him, will be in Paradise like this,” putting his index and middle fingers together. [Sahih Al-Bukhari, Vol. 8, Book 73, Hadith 34]
