No Orphan without Education

  • Each month, 693 Orphans and 291 of their widowed Mothers or Guardians received assistance in the form of cash $25 - $50 (based on family size).
  • Admission fees, examination fees, and enrollment fees were paid directly to the school for each child.
  • Besides a monthly stipend, Orphans and their widowed Mothers received in-kind support:
  • Water Coolers (one per family): Sent from USA through Hidaya's Container Shipment Project.
  • Blankets: (one per family member) Sent from USA through Hidaya's Container Shipment Project.
  • Shoes: Donated by community in USA and sent to Pakistan via Hidaya's Container Shipment Project.
  • Clothes: Donated by community in USA and sent to Pakistan via Hidaya's Container Shipment Project.
  • Two pairs of uniforms, two pairs of shoes, school books, school supplies, and school bags were given to Orphans directly.
  • 38 Orphans and widowed Mothers were motivated to send their children back to school so they can continue their education.
  • 3 other Orphan students were admitted to school who were previously unable to attend school.
  • Approx. 10% of the Orphan children attended basic Information Technology Training classes at Hidaya which included MS Windows, Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
 

Sitara-e-Isaar Awarded to Hidaya Foundation

Hidaya Foundation was awarded Sitara-i-Eisaar (Star of Sacrifice) by the Government of Pakistan, in recognition of the results-oriented relief efforts during the 2005 earthquake in Pakistan, during a special ceremony held at the Embassy of Pakistan in Washington, DC, on September 21, 2006.
