Female Education Drop-Out Prevention Cases |

Case 1 Benazir lives in a poor area of Pakistan. She is studying in 7th grade in a local high school. Her father is a farmer and his average income is 6,000 Rupees per month (approx. $95/month). Benazir lives with her parents and nine siblings in a very old house. For her father, it is very difficult is to bear Benazir's educational expenses along with the other living expenses. It was difficult for her dream of a good education to come true. Hidaya now supports her education by providing monthly assistance. She is happy now that she can achieve her dream easily. Case 2 Jotti is a poor girl living with her parents and five siblings. Her father, Ashok, for a meager wage as a laborer earning 1,500 Rupees per month (approx. $23/month). Jotti and her mother struggle to sell food items earning 300 Rupees (approx. $4.75/month) more per month for their family. Jotti currently is in the 10th grade in a local school. The thought of higher education seems out of reach for her. After paying the utility bills such as gas, electricity, etc. Ashok has no more money to support Jotti's education. Jottie had no option but to sacrifice her education. But with the support of Hidaya through the Female Education Drop-Out Prevention project, Jotti can continue her education. From the support she is getting from Hidaya, she is happy that her dream to be a doctor and can come true. Case 3 Nusrat is poor girl studying in 10th grade. Her father is unemployed and her brothers are laborers earning 7,000 Rupees (approx. $111/month) per month for the family. Her brothers are married and have to raise their own families as well. They are 15 family members total including Nusrat. Nusrat sews cloth to cover her educational expenses. It was difficult for her to have enough money to eat let alone pay for an education. For a while she had to drop-out from school to lighten the burden from her family's shoulders. Once Hidaya began assisting Nusrat she was excited to pursue her education. With the support she is getting from Hidaya, she purchases all her educational supplies easily, whereas it was impossible before. She is ecstatic that she can achieve her dream to be educated.
